My name is Maureen Bulger, and I live in Omemee, Ontario and I am a mother of two and grandmother of three. I first got involved with DEBRA Canada in 2014 after seeing pictures of Jonathan Pitre in the Ottawa Citizen newspaper showing the reality of Epidermolysis Bullosa. Immediately I felt like this was one of the most horrific things I had ever seen and felt compelled to help.
I decided to paint butterflies because they call these kids "butterfly children”, due to their skin being as delicate as a butterfly wing. I then made a promise to Jonathan that I would do everything in my power to help. I had my first fundraiser in Peterborough, ON in 2015; and this year in 2017 we will have our third annual EB fundraiser.
I feel honoured to be asked to be part of such a great DEBRA Canada team.
